Welcome to FMC Nguru
A Becon Of Hope and Excellence
Federal Medical Centre, Nguru came into existence in 1998 following an agreement between the Yobe State Government and the Federal Ministry of Health. The structure we inherited dates as far back as 1954, when it was built by the Western Sudan Mission, beginning with just two wards, male and female medical wards. It was later taken over by Yobe State, then under Borno State, until it finally became a Federal Medical Centre in 1998 and commenced operations in 1999.
At inception as a Federal institution, the facilities on ground included two wards, two clinics, an administrative block, a mortuary, an X-ray room, a pharmacy store, and four blocks of staff quarters. Over time, additional structures were put in place to enable the new Centre deliver its mandate as a tertiary hospital.
