Dr. Adamu Isa Adamu

Deputy Head of Clinical Services and Training

Dr. Adamu Isa Adamu is a seasoned medical professional and Consultant Histopathologist with an outstanding record of service, leadership, and academic contribution within Nigeria’s healthcare system.

A Fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (FMCPath), he currently serves as the Acting Head of the Department of Pathology at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Nguru, where he plays a key role in strengthening diagnostic services, supporting clinical decision-making, and advancing institutional training.

Born in October 1978 in Fika, Yobe State, Dr. Adamu commenced his formal education at Army Children School, Maiduguri, before proceeding to Brigadier Maimalari Day Secondary School. He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from the University of Maiduguri in 2007.

His medical career reflects steady progression and professional excellence, spanning all stages of clinical practice—from House Officer and National Youth Service Corps Doctor to Registrar, Senior Registrar, and ultimately Consultant. He completed his specialist training in histopathology between 2010 and 2018, acquiring in-depth expertise in diagnostic pathology, research methodology, and academic medicine.

In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Adamu is actively engaged in medical education and research. He serves as a Visiting Lecturer at the College of Medical Sciences, University of Maiduguri, and as a Visiting Consultant Pathologist at Yobe State University Teaching Hospital. He also chairs the Health Research Ethics Committee at FMC Nguru, underscoring his strong commitment to ethical standards, research governance, and quality improvement in healthcare.

Dr. Adamu has held several leadership positions of strategic importance, including Chairman of the Medical and Dental Consultants’ Association of Nigeria (MDCAN), FMC Nguru; Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) National Committee on Legislative Affairs; and Chief Resident during his residency training. These roles highlight his capacity for effective leadership, policy engagement, and professional advocacy.

A dedicated member of the Nigerian Medical Association, MDCAN, and the Islamic Medical Association of Nigeria, Dr. Adamu is widely respected for his professionalism, integrity, and service-oriented approach. His participation in numerous national and international trainings reflects his commitment to continuous professional development and alignment with global best practices in pathology and healthcare delivery.
