Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Nguru has successfully launched a comprehensive Community Health Outreach Programme aimed at improving access to quality healthcare services for underserved communities across Nguru and neighbouring local government areas.

The outreach, led by a multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and allied health professionals, provided free medical consultations, blood pressure and blood sugar screenings, antenatal checks, health education, and distribution of essential medications. Special focus was placed on maternal and child health, non-communicable disease prevention, and early disease detection.

Speaking at the event, the Medical Director emphasized FMC Nguru’s commitment to preventive healthcare and community engagement, noting that early intervention remains a key strategy in reducing avoidable morbidity and mortality. Community leaders commended the initiative and called for its sustainability, describing it as timely and impactful.

The programme also featured health talks on nutrition, hygiene, mental health awareness, and lifestyle modification, reinforcing the Centre’s role not only as a referral hospital but also as a public health advocate.

FMC Nguru reaffirmed its dedication to expanding similar outreach programmes as part of its broader mission to deliver patient-centred, equitable, and high-quality healthcare services to the people of Yobe State and the wider North-East region.
